Helen Ryan Dobrowski has worked with Sarah Colt for over a decade, most recently producing Billy Graham for PBS’ American Experience series, which premiered in May 2021. Her previous projects for American Experience include The Gilded Age, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, episodes three and four of God in America, and The Polio Crusade.

In addition to her partnership with Sarah Colt, Helen specializes in archival and content research, licensing, project development, and production. She was the archival producer on two 2023 biography documentaries: Judy Blume Forever, which premiered at Sundance in 2023 and will stream on Amazon Prime, and Joan Baez I Am A Noise, which had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival and will premiere nationally at SXSW. In 2017 she partnered with filmmakers Kathryn Dietz and Asaf Galay on the development of Cartooning America: The Fleischer Brothers Story to earn an NEH production grant. She has helped spearhead the research, fundraising and production of Sarah Colt Productions’ Co-op City project and other projects currently in development.

Helen came to Sarah Colt Productions from Boston College, her alma mater, where she worked in University Advancement Marketing and Communications. In 2005, she was awarded the Costa-Gavras Social Justice Award for her work on I’m In Here, a series on disabilities by professor and Film Studies chair John Michalcyzk.
